What’s your greatest asset for self-employment marketing?

Stop and think for a second.

What’s your greatest asset when it comes to your marketing?

  • Business Card?
  • Handshake?
  • Website?
  • Your Presentation Skills?

I suspect you need all of the above.

However, let’s take it down a level.

WILL POWER

It is one of those qualities that you need to master, and demonstrate regularly when it comes to your marketing. There’s also a big difference between demonstrating will power and “willfulness” (ask any mother of a 2 year old toddler).

Throughout history, we have seen many examples of how having the will power and tenacity to keep going can greatly assist you in crossing the winning line, after facing many adversities and after many of your competitors have fallen along the way.

When on Your marketing evolutionary process, willpower (or an increase in will power) begins at the end of the awareness step and the beginning of the understanding step.It begins to grow once you become aware of what is wrong with your marketing, what needs to be done, or once you have made up your mind, set new goals and objectives and want to achieve them. Your level of will power grows quite often after facing adversity, or a temporary set back. (After all, set backs are just that – temporary).

Perhaps you didn’t generate the response you wanted from a newspaper ad, or you had been sweet talked into using the services of an SEO consultant that generated no results, perhaps you attended an exhibition or tradeshow and didn’t generate a single enquiry,

Each of these “lessons” help you in the awareness stage to recognise that it’s time for a change. You need the strength though to face up to the issues, to learn the true “lesson” in each of these negative marketing experiences to help you to work on your self-confidence, perseverance, and self-knowledge.

Perhaps you have been experiencing a DECLINE in…

  • Turnover
  • Margin
  • Requests for information
  • Online marketing response levels
  • Offline marketing response levels
  • Qualified leads
  • Confirmed Appointments
  • Accepted Proposals
  • Good, qualified referrals
  • ROI from your wesbite

You need to review your peformance regularly to help you identify where you went wrong, or which marketing skills and areas of your marketing knowledge you need to improve.

No one likes disappointment. But it’s those who can use their negative marketing experiences as a means of analysing their current situation through means of a marketing audit perhaps, as an opportunity to seek ways of improving their situation, to set new goals and objectives, and to discover or ignite the willpower, desire and tenacity to brush themselves down and crack on.

Some people choose to do nothing to improve their situtation, they don’t identify what needs fixing, they don’t set new objectives or they simply waste their time on fruitless activities that don’t add value or help to carry them forward. Ironically, these activities probably end up using more energy, and leaving the individual even more tired, stressed, drained or upset than ever before.

Having the will power to keep going when the chips are down, will act as your mental duracell batteries, to continually recharge your energy levels, instead of having your energy levels depleted or wasted.

People with a lot of will power can be seen to be very proactive, very business, engaging in positive activities making progress and generating results. They learn to channel the positive energy at their disposal, as opposed to those who mentally give up with their situation, and play the victim.

Having optimum levels of will power enables you to raise your levels of awareness too, for if you are experiencing poor, negative or “unforunate” results and you think you are being “tested”, then you probably are in preparation for even bigger and better results, but you need to recognise the signs, the indicators, and be fully aware of the process and what to do next.

Developing a positive level of will power comes from activating your levels of desire to give you something new to aim for. But first, you need to igntie the flames of passion within you having come to the relevant positive conclusion having completed a marketing audit, and made the decision to take control of your situation in wanting to start generating the results you want.

Discovering, harnessing and leveraging your personal will power is in effect your personal acceptance to your situation, and the completion of an inner reorientation having reflected on the marketing issues, challenges and obstacles that may be holding you back and preventing you from living the life you want to live in sharing what you have to offer with the people who need and want what it is you have.

The person you choose to be and the results you want to achieve are entirely up to you.

Only you can decide what it is you want, and how much will power you have to help you achieve your goals and objectives.

But take the first steps and identify where you are now, and to set your new goals, so you can fire up those levels of enthusiasm, passion and will power to help you get to where you want to be.

You deserve better. You owe it to yourself, and other people need what you offer. You just need a little help in locating those people, and persuading them that you really can help them.

Onwards and Upwards
